Passions series by Jerry Cole

Dangerous Love

AUTHOR’S BLURB: Sometimes love is inconvenient.

Aaron Black has just met the man of his dreams. He is tall, strong, funny, and stable, and although he says he is straight, it is clear that he is very into him. There is just one problem. A local mob boss is trying to kill Aaron.

Just when Jerrod Polaski thinks that his love life has hit an all-time low, a charismatic bartender turns his head and steals his heart. The pragmatic accountant has always played it safe and built a stable, quiet life for himself. The last thing he needs is somebody like Aaron Black stirring up trouble and making him question everything he knows about love, sex, and relationships. Despite his best efforts, he can’t seem to let him go. With powerful enemies stalking them both, Jerrod will have to decide if a chance at love is worth risking it all.

When a chance encounter turns into a consuming passion, will Aaron trade his life to protect the people he loves? Can Jerrod pull down his walls and trade the life he has always known for the chance at something bigger?

Please Note: This book contains Adult Language & Steamy Adult Activities, it is intended for 18+ Adults Only. Novella, approx. 53,000 words in length. HEA (happy ever after ending). Does not end with a “cliffhanger”.

MY REVIEW: Delicious, delicious, delicious. I want a nerd-hot Clark Kent-Hulk boyfriend. Oh, wait. I just found the best version EVER! A book version! And his bestie knows of the magic that is Clint.
Joking aside, this was well-timed, nicely written and greatly enjoyable. There were tensions of different varieties to keep your interest, but also these quieter moments that allowed you to savor and appreciate the characters.
I’m definitely looking forward to the next installment of this series.

Sparkle (Passions Book 2)

AUTHOR’S BLURB: “Sparkle” is a stand-alone sequel to “Dangerous Love”.

Sparkle Jones is a rising star, with a cult following, and a closet full of great shoes. Life is good in the limelight. Now, all he needs is somebody to share it with. Despite the glamorous trappings of his life, Sparkle can’t escape his fear of living and dying alone. When the self-proclaimed diva agrees to accompany a friend to an upscale bathhouse, he never expects to run into the one man who will change his whole world and teach him what love is all about.

Simon Burns learned early in life how to thrive as a good-looking gay man. His well-earned reputation as the ultimate one-night stand and his skills as a lover are legendary. The straight-acting player has lived a double life for decades, keeping his private sexual escapades casual and anonymous. When tragedy hits close to home, he finds himself wondering if it’s all worth it. Is the player finally ready for love?

When these two worlds collide, sparks fly and neither man can deny their feelings. But the road ahead will not be easy. The bonds they build are put to the test, and they must decide if they are willing to sacrifice the lives they have built for themselves separately for the chance at something permanent together.

Please Note: This book contains Adult Language & Steamy Adult Activities, it is intended for 18+ Adults Only. Novel, approx. 50,000 words+ in length. HEA (happy ever after ending). Does not end with a “cliffhanger”.

MY REVIEW: This was an anticipated book, and I’m glad to say it did not disappoint. Sparkle was as multi-faceted as he needed to be to truly shine and captivate. Simon faced very real fears that, though they were irrelevant in this relationship, were very real to him and therefore valid. I found myself torn between wanting to give comfort and shake some sense into them each. The flow and the mood are all on point and I just have nothing negative to say about this book.
